The SEACURE project has launched its Open Call for Associated Regions to support public authorities with funding and tailored technical assistance to mobilise regional action towards effective nutrient pollution management.
The call invites up to seven regional and local authorities to access up to €100,000 and an 18-month support programme to build regional capacity for implementing SEACURE’s innovative nutrient-management solutions and advance action to reduce soil and water pollution in their basins.
Launched under the EU Missions “A Soil Deal for Europe” and “Restore Our Ocean and Waters,” the project will finance activities that help regions affected by nutrient pollution adopt innovative solutions that reduce fertiliser use, enhance wastewater treatment and management, and restore nutrient-affected ecosystems, while strengthening local actors’ capacity and preparing the strategic plans and mechanisms needed for future scale-up.
Each public authority will select the SEACURE solution(s) most suited to its territorial challenges and implement tailored activities to assess their replicability, strengthen regional governance, and train key actors for improving the management of nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) cycles.
Through this opportunity, SEACURE will equip regions with the capacity and knowledge needed to replicate the project’s innovative strategies in their own territories, aimed to:
