We’re delighted to announce that applications are now open for the WeMed Award 2026.
The WeMed Mediterranean Sustainability Award is one of the leading initiatives promoting an inclusive transition to sustainability across the Mediterranean. As the region faces pressing environmental, social and economic challenges, the award recognises the businesses that are turning these challenges into opportunities through innovative and sustainable business models.
Now in its fifth edition the WeMed Award recognises success stories of sustainable businesses in the green, blue and circular economy that successfully combine environmental and social innovation. This edition is funded by the Waste Agency of Catalonia and UNEP/MAP through the Mediterranean Trust Fund.
The 2026 edition seeks to identify sustainable businesses with innovative and economically viable business models that generate positive environmental and social impact. Applications are open under two categories:
The call is open to legally established businesses in the eligible territories across the Southern Mediterranean, Mediterranean EU candidate countries and selected Mediterranean regions of EU Member States.
The winners of each category will receive a €20,000 cash prize, in addition to international visibility and recognition within the Mediterranean sustainability community.

The award’s page, www.WeMedAward.org includes all the information required to successfully go through the application process.
WeMed, the Mediterranean Sustainability Award, is a flagship initiative of the Mediterranean Strategy for Sustainable Development (MSSD), a strategic guiding document adopted by the Contracting Parties of the Barcelona Convention, for all stakeholders to translate the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at the regional, sub-regional and national levels of the Mediterranean region.
